They barricaded themselves inside their cells to prevent authorities from sending them back to Laos, where they strongly fear they will be persecuted and their lifes put in danger. - May 26th, 2007: Forced repatriation of 31 Hmong refugees from Khao Kho police center jail, while two of them have tried to commit suicide by swallowing drugs. They prefered to die rather than to be sent back to Laos, which contradicts Laos Foreign Affairs spokesman who claimed that the repatriation process was not forced and that the hand-over was peaceful. - June 9th, 2007: Forced repatriation of 163 Hmong refugees, coming from 4 jails (Khao Kho, Tha Phon, Na Chaliang, Lang Sa). One again Laos Foreign Affairs spokesman claims that no force was used. Though, one of the Nong Khai jail Hmong refugees managed to inform us that they have been beaten and some electrocuted to break their resistance. - June 9th, 2007: A Huay Nam Khao (White Water) area Hmong refugee managed to alert us on the whole 8500 Hmong refugees forced repatriation planned both by Laos and Thaïland authorities to happen before end of June 2007. I am deeply worried about the treatments that the forced repatriated Hmong refugees have suffered, as well as about the fate of the 8500 Hmong refugees in Huay Nam Khao area. Forced repatriations are contrary to Refugees International Rights and Human Rights, because no one can send back by force asylum seekers to a country where they will face serious infringement of their Human Rights. This is why I respectfully and urgently appeal to you, on humanitarian grounds, to intervene personally to help these people so that they can receive humanitarian, medical, and food assistance they are needing from international organisations, before they can settle in a third country to live in peace. Devant la menace, ceux-ci s'enferment dans leur cellule. Face à leur détermination, et malgré l'usage de gaz, les militaires Thaï font marche arrière. - le 26 mai 2007 : 31 personnes de la prison de Khao kho sont rapatriées de force vers le Laos. 2 d'entre elles, préférant mourir que d'être rapatriées au Laos, tentent de mettre fin à leur jour. Une nouvelle fois, les témoignages recueillis font état de violences exercées sur les réfugiés afin de rendre leur déportation possible. - Le 9 juin 2007 : 163 personnes provenant de 4 prisons thailandaises sont rapatriées de force. Là encore, malgré les déclarations officielles affirmant qu'aucune force n'a été déployée, des témoignages attestent de violences allant jusqu'à l'électrocution des réfugiés qui résistent en se débattant. - Le 9 juin 2007 : Un réfugié du camp de Huay Nam Khao réussit à nous alerter sur le futur rapatriement de 8500 personnes. Ce rapatriement serait prévu avant fin juin 2007. Je m'inquiète fortement sur le traitement que ces rapatriés de force ont reçu et sur le sort réservé aux 8500 réfugiés de Huay Nam Khao. Je demande aux autorités thailandaises et à la communauté internationale de faire le nécessaire pour que ces rapatriements forcés, contraires au droit international des réfugiés et des droits humains, cessent immédiatement. Un gouvernement ne peut renvoyer de force des personnes dans un pays où elles risquent d'être victimes de graves atteintes à leurs droits fondamentaux. Je vous prie enfin de faire en sorte que ces réfugiés puissent recevoir l'aide dont ils ont besoin de la part des organisations internationales, en attendant d'être recueillis dans un pays tiers.
